Gold inflation in Dota 2
British Dota 2 caster Gareth Bateson touched on gold inflation in Dota 2 while commentating on the Upper Division of the DPC: EEU Winter Tour. He said that new records shouldn’t be compared to previous records. Then, Ben "Noxville" Steenhuisen presented statistics on average gold earned in the 10th and 20th minute games ranked by year.
In his calculations, the analyst considered data for an entire year without reference to patches. He also noted that these values were average for the entire Esports scene. They weren't divided by game role.
Interestingly, in 2023, an Esportsman can earn almost 20% more gold by the 10th minute than in 2015. At the 20th minute, the gap widens to 24%. The changes are directly related to the updates that Valve has been releasing. In some of them, it revised the game economy. In others, it worked with creeps and buildings.
