Analytical portal Stratz has provided statistics on the number of matches played in Dota 2 and broke it down by different regions. Over the past 2 months, there has been a significant increase.
The European region, which also includes the EEU, is the most active now. The number of matches is back to 2016 values and stands at 14 million. Southeast Asia, China, and South America had an increase in matches. The only exception is North America. There has been no significant growth since the end of 2020.
The growth in the number of matches can be attributed to several reasons. First, Valve gave away gifts, including free Battle Passes and Arcana items. After that, the game started the Diretide Event, which allows you to get cosmetic items.
