Doom Buyback Bug Causes 1 Hour Pause In PARIVISION vs. Aurora Match
The Upper Bracket series between PARIVISION and Aurora faced a significant game bug which decided the game. In the decisive map of the series, Nightfall’s Doom faced a bug, which made it impossible for him to press buyback at a crucial time of the game.
The bug comes from Doom’s facet – Devil’s Bargain. This facet allows Doom to sell items for 90% of their value, but also increases his buyback’s cost by 20% – or it should’ve been. Though the description indicates a 20% increase, it was actually 40%.
The bug occurred at the 52-minute mark, when PARIVISION was marching into Aurora’s base. With 37,000 net worth and 4,221 gold in hand, Nightfall could not press his buyback due to a lack of gold.

Nightfall’s gold situation: (200 + (37,000/13)) + 20% = 3,655 gold

However, due to the bug (+40% instead of 20%), the buyback cost was 4,300 gold
Nightfall had 4,221 gold in hand, and would reach 4,300 gold in around 20 seconds due to passive gold every hero receives. The PARIVISION team agreed to go AFK for 20 seconds and allow him to get enough gold for buyback, but the organizers did not allow for it. After an hour-long pause, Aurora refused to finish the third map, accepting a default loss.
After the series ended, Valve immediately released a patch fixing the bug, but the damage had already been done. With this match result, PARIVISION advanced to the Upper Bracket Final, while Aurora will play an elimination match against Tundra Esports.
